“needs” full access to your email …

I had some issues with a flight and I was looking how to get compensation and I tried

After adding flight info I am asked to use social login (Gmail, Outlook ..) and when trying to use Gmail, I get the nasty surprise that the permission they require is full access to read and search through my email… No explanation given on why is that.

When I cancel and go back, trying to choose another option, they require only my email to communicate…so they say

Is Gmail’s permission policy changed, and cannot give away only the email, is Airhelp just being assholes or is a junior programmer using StackOverflow in a wring way to add the social login functionality?
