Whenever I talk to the people around me, it makes me very sad to see how little they care about privacy and civil liberty, about government surveillance, how much of their lives they put on Facebook, the ease with which they place Alexa’s everywhere in their house. “Oh but it’s so convenient”. I have learned that going into discussion with them is usually a dead end. I can use all the arguments I want, I’ve read most of the stuff in the sidebar here. In the end it’s very simple. They just really, really don’t care. Convenience trumps personal freedom. That said, I really would like to get involved in trying to make people more privacy-conscious, to help them understand the dangers. If people don’t change, we are in for a very, very scary future. Does anyone have any ideas? Are there any activist organizations or something like that to become a member of? Thanks a lot!
